Blencathra 07/10/22 – 09/10/22

For our first weekend trip of the year, we went to the North-Eastern Lake District to take on Blencathra. We made our way to The White Horse Inn on the Friday night, stopping off in Penrith for dinner. When we arrived, we got settled in and prepared for the days of walking to come.

Saturday – Blencathra

We woke early on Saturday to give us time to get up and down Blencathra in time to nip into the pub before dinner.

We split into two groups, one summitting the usual way, one tackling Sharp Edge. The edge is rated as a Grade I scramble. It is very exposed, which makes it equal parts breath-taking and hair-raising.

After the heights of the day, we enjoyed a lovely dinner cooked by Nads, Georgina, and Morag. After dinner we unveiled our revamped and updated drinking Jenga.

Sunday – Buttermere

Our final day of the trip, we made our way to Buttermere. We split into two groups again, with the longer walk hoping to make it up Great Gable. Although the weather didn’t allow that, we still enjoyed the views and a great Bothy.

Thank you everyone who came for a great weekend! We had a lot of fun and hope you did to.
