Winter Skills 27/01/23 – 29/01/23

Our Winter Skills trip took us to a bunkhouse in Glenprosen in the Cairngorms.

We got lucky with the weather on the Saturday, and for most of us it was our first ever Munro with a view from the top! The Munro in question was Driesh, at 947m. The use of crampons was necessary on the way up and down, perfect for practising our winter skills.

We enjoyed a night in the bunkhouse, with a tasty meal cooked by committee, and many games of Sardines and more.

The Sunday’s weather was considerably windier and raining so no Munros were attempted, but there was plenty of opportunities for practising our Winter Skills. We did more walking in crampons, and plenty of ice axe breaking practise.
