Setting off from a lovely sunny Newcastle we headed for Langdale where after a fun coach journey up the small roads from Grasmere arriving at Stickle Ghyll car park in the heart of beautiful Langdale.
Upon arriving we were greeted with overcast skies and then we set off on our walks.
The long walk headed up to Stickle tarn before ascending Pavey Ark by Jacks rake, a fine grade 1 scramble with some beautiful views gained as the cloud lifted as we passed the Rowan tree half way up. We then continued on to Harrison stickle where a small scramble was had up the grass covered gully on the southern side of the summit before continuing over Loft crags to Pike of Stickle. As we crossed the boggy plateau towards Thunacar Knott the weather deteriorated again with fine hail being whipped into our faces as we continued the slow drag up to High Raise before turning into the wind to descend via Sergeant man back down to Stickle tarn where we caught some great views of Pavey Ark which we had descended earlier. Finally we descended back down to the pub for a quick pint before the coach departed back to Newcastle.
The short walk had an amazing time on Lingmoor fell as well as exploring some of the Langdale valley and the medium walk ascended up to the High raise via stickle tarn before continuing over past Harrison stickle and down over Pike of Stickle back to the pub.
Overall a lovely day out with some nice scrambling and walking in beautiful Langdale. -Josh
