A great trip to start the year. Leaving Newcastle in the beautiful dawn light we headed for Seatoller, after the coach had expertly squeezed its way down Borrowdale we set off under brightening skies for the walks.
A small group went down past Seathwaite and up the Langstrath valley until Blackmoss pot was reached and we headed up the steep brackened slope to Woof cave. After exploring the cave we headed up over some fun scrambling on the Cam crag ridge topping out in the sun before the wind and rain came in as we made our way over Rossthwaite fell to lunch at Tarn at Leaves before descending down a slippy path alongside Big Stanger Gill from Bessyboot.
The short walk had a lovely walk through the Borrowdale rainforest and up to Castle Crag, the medium walk climbed up and over Thornythwaite fell to Glaramara and returned by the same route meeting up with the short walkers in the Yew tree pub at the end. The long walks headed up the mighty Great End, descending back past Styhead tarn.
Overall a lovely walk to start the year. Thanks to everyone for coming along see you around.
