Our final day trip of the term was to Keswick. Setting off into the wind and rain brought about by Strom Darragh we tackled some new routes.
As we set off into the rain along the old railway line from Keswick to Threlkeld we enjoyed seeing all of the architecture along the route before we passed some Kayakers on the Gretna and then turned north towards Latrigg. When we were approaching the summit of Latrigg the wind was strong so we descended back down via a boggy stream which tried to steal Joe away from us we then descended back down to the old railway and returned to Keswick for a relaxing afternoon. (11km walk)
Matthew led a walk along the eastern side of Derwent water and although they were thwarted by flooding preventing the complete circumnavigation of the lake they returned through the woods and enjoyed brilliant views and were shielded from the wind. (16km walk)
Markos led a group up to Skiddaw house for lunch then came back over Lonscale (715m) in the wind and descended over a slightly less windy Latrigg (369m) gaining great sunset views.
Overall a lovely day out with nice stormy weather and great company. Thanks to all who came along. -Josh
